In 2021, Brazil’s Espírito Santo imported $6.51B, making it the 10th largest importer out of the 27 importers in Brazil. In 2021 top imports of Espírito Santo were Bituminous coal, not agglomerated ($698M), Diesel Trucks < 5 tonnes ($515M), Fixed wing aircraft, unladen weight 2,000-15,000… ($363M), Communication apparatus (excluding telephone sets or… ($322M), and Spark-ignition chargeable Cars ($199M).

In 2020, the highest complexity exports of Espírito Santo according to the product complexity index (PCI) are Steel Ingots (0.64), Sulfate Chemical Woodpulp (-0.38), Semi-Finished Iron (-0.7), Pig Iron (-0.77), and Building Stone (-0.94). PCI measures the knowledge intensity of a product by considering the knowledge intensity of its exporters.

In May 2022 Espírito Santo exported $1.07B and imported $897M, resulting in a positive trade balance of $175M. Between May 2021 and May 2022 the exports of Espírito Santo have increased by $324M (43.4%) from $748M to $1.07B, while imports increased by $370M (70%) from $528M to $897M.

In May 2022, Espírito Santo exported mostly to United States ($299M), Malaysia ($104M), France ($100M), Argentina ($60.1M), and Netherlands ($51.7M), and imported mostly from China ($166M), United States ($151M), Australia ($92.1M), Canada ($84.8M), and Russia ($58.1M).

In May 2022, the increase in Espírito Santo’s year-by-year exports was explained primarily by an increase in exports to United States ($50.8M or 49%), Singapore ($45.3M or 5.41k%), and Spain ($14.1M or 1.14k%), and product exports increase in Building Stone ($27.3M or 71.1%), Coffee ($17M or 53.6%), and Crude Petroleum ($14.7M or 25.8%). In May 2022, the increase in Espírito Santo’s year-by-year imports was explained primarily by an increase in imports from China ($24M or 20.4%), Russia ($9.87M or 767%), and Colombia ($7.44M or 579%), and product imports increase in Flexible Metal Tubing ($9.73M or 913%), Coal Briquettes ($9.32M or 28.1%), and Ink ($6.66M or 1.57k%).
